MOUNT VERNON - The Knox County Health Department will once again be at the Knox County Fair. The health department booth will be located in the Merchant’s Building, but this year, the agency is located in a new location: on the south side in the southwest corner.
On Saturday, dubbed “free” day at the fair, staff members will be at the booth from noon to 4 p.m. offering a survey for young mothers, women up to age 44 and children up to age 21 from Knox County. Everyone participating in the survey will be eligible to register for a $20 gift card from either WalMart, Kroger or Subway. Multiple gift cards will be awarded at the end of the day. Winners will be notified by phone. The survey is anonymous and can only be taken once by each individual, but multiple entries can be made per family.
The surveys feature questions about nutrition and physical activity needs and barriers to nutritious foods and physical activity, specific to young mothers, women up to age 44 and children up to age 21. The survey is part of the Maternal and Child Health Grant from the Ohio Department of Health and the purchase of gift cards is funded through the grant. This survey will only be offered on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
During the rest of the week, health department staff will be at the booth with the public health prize wheel offering smashlights, hand-sanitizer, flying disks and insect repellent.
“Click It or Ticket” and “Look Out for Motorcycle” bumper magnets will also be available at the booth as well as other program materials.
